Hotel construction in Mount Pleasant has come to a crawl in recent years, but a new project near Patriots Point could be a sign that the market is stepping back up. Bennett Hospitality recently broke ground on a 100-room Residence Inn at its Ferry Wharf development next to the Ravenel Bridge and Waterfront Memorial Park. It will join a 175-key Embassy Suites the Charleston firm opened on the property three years ago — making it one of the last hotels built in the town.

The hotel will have typical guest amenities, such as a pool, fitness center, dining and a bar. It's expected to open in 2026. Developer Michael Bennett of Bennett Hospitality said in a written statement that the structure "fits in well and reflects the old Mount Pleasant style” by incorporating hardwood floors, white clapboard siding and a tin roof, giving it a "classic and timeless" look.
