Residents can take a trip to an historical English city with a heritage group later this year. Horwich Heritage is hosting the outing to Chester on Saturday, September 14 this year. One of the oldest cities in the country, it was established as a Roman fortress in the first century.

The heritage group will be leaving at 9am and returning at 5.30pm on the day, taking a coach to the historic city. co.uk/ Horwich Heritage was founded in 1985, aimed at re-establishing a sense of local pride in the wake of the closure of Horwich Locomotive Works the previous year. The group holds exhibitions, history talks and trips, and works on heritage projects in the town, from installing plaques to rescuing relics from its industrial past.
