The Virginia women's basketball team put a lopsided loss to Notre Dame in its rear-view mirror and kicked off the new year in impressive fashion on Thursday night. The Cavaliers used a dominant second half to pull away from Wake Forest and earn a 69-46 win over the Demon Deacons at John Paul Jones Arena. Virginia (9-6, 1-2 ACC) outscored Wake Forest (7-6, 0-2 ACC) 44-23 after halftime behind stellar 3-point shooting.

The Hoos connected on eight of their 10 attempts from beyond the arc in the third and fourth quarters. Six different Cavaliers hit 3-pointers in Thursday's victory, including Breona Hurd, who went 3-for-4 from long range while finishing with 15 points and six rebounds. Kymora Johnson tallied 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, while Latasha Lattimore put up 13 points and seven rebounds in the victory.



Paris Clark added nine points and six rebounds, and Olivia McGhee chipped in nine points, two assists and four steals for the Cavaliers, who outrebounded the Demon Deacons by a margin of 41-30.
