Hongkongers woke up on Monday to a week of thunderstorms and heavy downpours after enjoying days of sunny weather, with the forecaster issuing an amber rainstorm warning in the morning. The Hong Kong Observatory raised the signal at 7.55am, calling on residents, who are outdoors, to seek safe shelter as intense gusts might continue to affect the city.

“Under the influence of upper-air disturbances and a southwesterly airstream, there will be showers and thunderstorms over the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days,” the forecaster said. “A broad trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the coast of southern China in the middle and latter parts of this week. The weather will remain unsettled over the region.



” According to the latest nine-day forecast, there will be a few showers on Tuesday and even more so with thunderstorms from the middle of the week. Maximum temperatures in the coming week are expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will stand at 26 degrees Celsius..
