In a recent interview, the director disclosed the professional details of Kevin’s parents, portrayed by Catherine O’Hara and John Heard, shedding light on how the McCallisters were wealthy enough to own a large Chicago home and fund a family trip to Paris for around 15 people. This revelation addresses a question that has been debated by fans for decades.

In a recent interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast , Home Alone director Chris Columbus answered a long-standing question about the McCallister family — how could they afford their lifestyle? Columbus explained, “We thought the mother, at the time, because we used mannequins in the basement — she was a very successful fashion designer.
