Hollywood actor Sydney Sweeney has levelled candid criticism at Hollywood’s brand of female empowerment , claiming it is ‘all fake’. The 27-year-old actor has proven herself a force to be reckoned with in the industry after making a name for herself in HBO ’s Euphoria . Since then she has starred in hit shows such as The White Lotus and broken into film across genres from superhero movie Madame Web to blockbuster romance Anyone But You to horror flick Immaculate.

But her journey has not been smooth sailing and earlier this year she was forced to defend herself after a high-profile producer, Carol Baum, said she ‘isn’t pretty’ and ‘can’t act’ . She shared her disappointment at the Dead Ringers producer’s comments with Metro , adding: ‘If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful.’ Now, in a new interview, the screenstar has cast her net wider and is coming after all of Hollywood for its disingenuous brand of feminism.

After reiterating that it is ‘disheartening to see women tear other women down’, she added: ‘This entire industry, all people say is “Women empowering other women.” ‘None of it’s happening. All of it is fake and a front for all the other s**t that they say behind everyone’s back.

’ Acknowledging that there are ‘different opinions’ around why this may be the case, she shared that ‘our entire lives we’ve been raised to believe on.
