Winter weather alerts are in effect for parts of central and eastern Ontario, as well as southern Quebec. These advisories include the St.

Lawrence Valley in New York, Ontario, and Quebec, covering major areas like Montreal. A fast-moving Alberta Clipper low-pressure system is set to sweep across the Great Lakes, passing just south of Montreal on Monday night. Steady snow is expected to move southeastward through eastern Ontario on Monday and reach Montreal after 8 p.



m., with moderate snowfall persisting into Tuesday morning. Montreal could see between 10 and 15 cm of snow from late Monday through Tuesday morning’s commute, while other areas of southern Quebec may accumulate 5 to 10 cm.

The Ottawa Valley might receive as much as 20 cm. The advisories were issued not only due to the snowfall amounts but also because the timing coincides with the start of the busy holiday travel season. Roads are likely to become slippery and snow-covered in many places.

Temperatures will remain cold enough to keep all precipitation as snow, with highs ranging from -5°C to -7°C on Monday and Tuesday, and lows in the minus teens by Christmas Day.
