You probably heard about Ken Tanigawa’s hole-in-one during the second round of the Rogers Charity Classic, but the eventual tournament champion wasn’t the only sharpshooter to celebrate an ace this past week at Canyon Meadows. Cindy Chan, a volunteer hole captain and Rogers employee, made short work of No. 14 during Monday’s Blakes Women’s Day, draining a nifty nine-iron from 103 yards away.
During Wednesday’s pro-am, Matt Stevens wowed his group — including PGA Tour Champions pro Kirk Triplett — with an ace on No. 9. Sheila May’s mother, Rhea Terre, was celebrating her 93rd birthday and had a simple request for her daughter — ‘Go get a hole in one for me today!’ Sheila did exactly that, breezing through the third hole on Glencoe’s Bridges Nine.
She cranked an awesome eight-iron over two sand-traps and hit the flag-stick from 80 yards out for her third career ‘1.’ Luc Rivard completed his personal hole-in-one hat-trick, sinking a sweet seven-iron on the 142-yard sixth assignment at Winston. It has been a special stretch for this family: Barry Schlacter made aces in back-to-back weeks and then was beaming with pride as he witnessed his son, Caleb, notch one of his own on the eighth at Redwood Meadows.
Caleb was precise with a pitching wedge from a distance of 125 yards. Don Mills had this to say after his first career hole-in-one — “Took 60 years, but it meant the world.” Mills was one-and-done on No.
11 at Lakeside, smoothing a seven-iron from the 150-yard blocks. Celia Patrician buried a beauty on No. 8 at Douglasdale.
Pitching wedge was the right call for a 92-yard challenge. Jenna Freeman capped a spin of Shaganappi’s Valley Nine in supreme style. Freeman swished her tee-ball — a flawless five-iron — on the 109-yard finishing hole.
Josh Kupper was perfect with a pitching wedge on No. 9 at Lakeview, which spans 107 yards. Patrick McAllister and Mike Borkristl can swap stories after both aced the sixth on the scorecard at Willow Park.
McAllister nailed a nine-iron from 141 yards away, while Borkristl gave the boys something to celebrate on men’s night, finding the bottom of the cup with a fantastic five-iron that covered 172 yards. Ken Hubert skipped the putting portion on No. 11 at Fox Hollow.
He was spot-on with a six-iron from 165 yards out. John Wither was the toast of the clubhouse at Hamptons after his spectacular shot on No. 15, where he potted a pitching wedge from 113 yards.
Kurri Reich will be saying only good things about his five-iron, his weapon of choice for a 205-yard memory-maker on No. 6 on Shaganappi’s Valley Nine. Dan Kelly didn’t require a flat-stick on the fourth at Redwood Meadows, finishing his business with one smooth swing of a six-iron from 185 yards back.
James Shai thumped a five-iron on the No. 6 at Confederation Park and his aim was outstanding from 195 yards away. If you see Brad David, be sure to say congrats on his 155-yard ace on No.
