Monday, January 27, 2025 Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad is set to boost travel connectivity as Air India Express launches operations starting March 1, connecting key destinations. Air India Express to Launch Operations from Hindon Airport Starting March 1 Air India Express, a prominent low-cost airline, has announced plans to commence operations from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad beginning March 1. With this move, the airline is poised to become the first in India to operate from two different airports within the National Capital Region (NCR).

This expansion highlights a significant milestone in India’s aviation sector, as currently, only IndiGo operates flights from two airports in the same metropolitan region—Goa International Airport (Dabolim) and Mopa Airport. At present, Hindon Airport is serviced exclusively by the regional airline Star Air, which operates flights to Kalaburagi and Hubli. The Hubli route operates four times weekly, while Kalaburagi-bound flights are scheduled three times a week.

Hindon Civil Enclave, managed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), shares its location with the Hindon Air Force Station. Originally developed to support domestic air travel under the government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), the airport relies on air traffic control services provided by the Indian Air Force. Spanning 22,050 square meters, the Hindon terminal features eight check-in counters, two conveyor belts, and has the capacity to accommodate 300 passengers per.
