Some of the wildest collaborations between the Marvel and DC comics are returning to print for the first time since 1996. Launching on Oct. 8, DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus is a 25-issue compilation of some of the biggest brawls and weirdest mash-ups between the A-list roster of heroes from the two comic titans.

The DC Versus Marvel run began as a special crossover mini-series, with two issues published by Marvel and the other two published by DC. Readers originally voted on the winners of each issue by filling out ballots that were sent out to comic book stores in advance. If you’d like to add these essential issues to your comic library, you can pre-order the DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus from Amazon for $134.

99, or from Penguin Random House for $149.99. The original four-issue run was eventually expanded into what would be known as The Amalgam Universe.

This allowed heroes from both franchises to fight each other but also resulted in some truly odd and occasionally cursed combinations like Bat-Thing (a combination of DC’s Man-Bat and Marvel’s Man-Thing) and Lobo the Duck (a mash-up of Marvel’s Howard the Duck and DC’s Lobo, naturally). In addition to the original DC Versus Marvel run from 1994, The Amalgam Age Omnibus includes the eight-issue sequel starring Access, the superhero responsible for the creation of the Amalgam Universe, as well as the subsequent one-shots. We’ve provided a full list of the issues included in the DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus below.
