Tom Hardy starrer Venom: The Last Dance may have marked the conclusion to the symbiote trilogy, but in the larger scheme of things it managed to lay foundations for pivotal narratives that could actually chart the path taken by Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) for years to come. The film, even though it effectively ended Eddie Brock’s journey, introduced major characters and hinted at unresolved plotlines that makes the SSU more complicated and intriguing than it ever was. The SSU began with Venom in 2018, introducing the world to Eddie Brock and his alien symbiote.

The success of the film spawned two sequels, including Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) and now the final The Last Dance. The film, while concluding Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Venom, also suggests a broader scope of storytelling that may encompass cross-dimensional threats and an expanding roster of characters. The Last Dance in its post-credit scene sets up one of the biggest introductions in SSU.

Knull, the god of the symbiotes, and a potential adaptation of the King in Black storyline is hinted at by the makers. In the comics, Knull leads a cosmic invasion of Earth, making him a formidable force in Marvel's universe. Although brief in his appearance, Knull's ominous presence is felt, when he ominously declares that the universe is no longer safe after Venom's defeat.
