There’s no one who could possibly portray Wolverine better than Hugh Jackman. But if there has to be someone to carry his legacy forward, Henry Cavill appears to be a perfect fit and MCU fans saw a glimpse of it in Deadpool & Wolverine. The DC Universe’s Man of Steel made a surprising cameo in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-led MCU film as a Wolverine variant, dubbed Cavillrine.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With The Mouth superhero embarks on a journey through various realities in order to find a Wolverine, who could help assist him in saving his universe from extinction. Deadpool meets several variants of Wolverine, we see a dwarf Logan, angry Logan, one-eyed Logan, a Logan on a cross, and a Logan apparently battling Hulk. Amid this we also stumble upon Cavillrine (Henry Cavill), who wasn’t interested to collaborate with Reynolds’ superhero.

But that single moment wasn’t quite easy for Henry to shoot. In an interview with The New York Times, Shawn Levy, the film director revealed Henry was “sick to his stomach” after shooting his cameo. “Poor Henry Cavill, who not only had that pumped-up muscular body but kept that cigar lit and in his mouth for the entirety of the shoot day.

I remember hearing the next day that Henry was sick to his stomach because he had been inhaling cigar smoke for eight hours straight, but never once did he waver,” said Levy. A post shared by Ryan Reynolds (@vancityreynolds) This comes at a time when Henry shared his look as Cavillrine from Deadpool & Wolverine for the first time via Instagram on Monday. “To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one.

Just the moustache,” the actor captioned his photo in what appears to be a funny dig at DC. Notably, Henry played the Superman with a clean-shaven look but he couldn’t shave off his moustache during the 2017 Justice League reshoots because he was simultaneously also filming for Mission: Impossible - Fallout. At the end, Henry featured in the film with a CGI upper lip that was criticized by fans immensely on social media.

A post shared by Henry Cavill (@henrycavill) Henry has played Superman in Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, and Black Adam. But now he has been replaced by David Corenswet in James Gunn’s reboot of Superman. At this point, there is no official confirmation if Henry will continue to play Cavillrine in the MCU.
