Wednesday, August 28, 2024 NCC secures a contract to revamp a hotel in Helsinki Elielinaukio, transforming it into a modern Scandic hotel with 174 rooms and sustainable upgrades. NCC has been awarded a significant contract to transform a hotel building located in Elielinaukio, right in the heart of Helsinki, Finland. This project involves converting the existing structure into a brand-new Scandic hotel, which will feature a total of 174 guest rooms.

The initiative aims to breathe new life into the property, enhancing its appeal and functionality to better serve future visitors. The contract, which operates under a turnkey model, is valued at approximately SEK 180 million (around $17.67 million).

This substantial investment underscores NCC’s commitment to delivering high-quality construction and refurbishment services in line with modern hospitality standards. By taking full responsibility for the project, NCC will oversee every aspect of the refurbishment, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish. Key elements of the renovation include a comprehensive overhaul of the hotel’s interior and exterior.

This will involve updating the guest rooms to provide a more comfortable and contemporary experience for visitors. Additionally, the common areas will be redesigned to offer inviting spaces for guests to relax and socialize. The façade and roof will also undergo significant improvements to enhance the building’s aesthetic appeal and durability.

A major focus of the refurbishment is the enhancement of the property’s technical installations. This will not only improve the overall functionality of the building but also ensure it meets modern standards of safety and efficiency. Upgrading these systems is critical for supporting the needs of a high-traffic hotel environment while maintaining operational reliability.

Sustainability is a core component of this project, with specific efforts dedicated to boosting the building’s energy efficiency. NCC aims to align the refurbished hotel with the principles of sustainable development, making it more environmentally friendly. The ultimate goal is to achieve LEED Gold environmental certification, a prestigious recognition that highlights the building’s adherence to rigorous energy and sustainability standards.

Construction work is scheduled to commence next month, marking the beginning of this transformative journey. NCC’s skilled team of professionals will bring their expertise to the site, ensuring that each phase of the project is completed to the highest standards. Their approach will emphasize quality, safety, and sustainability throughout the entire construction process.
