The review score for Helldivers 2 has been lowering ever since the Escalation of Freedom update. Now it is in free fall after two disappointing updates in a row with the 01.001.

004 and 01.001.005 patches .

Many players have taken this opportunity to be critical of Arrowhead Game Studios and the way it’s handling the developing of Helldivers 2. Since the Escalation of Freedom update was released earlier this month, the Steam reviews have been slowly sinking, but now they have reached a new low following the 01.001.

004 update that broke the hitbox and damaged the registration of enemies such as the Chargers. Currently, Helldivers 2 is sitting at just 42% for its recent reviews over the past 30 days, with the negative reviews outweighing the amount of positives left on the platform. When looking at some recent reviews, even many of the positive reviews are still critical of the game, with Thudge saying “A game that was very, very promising at the beginning but suffered from its own success and developer/publisher meddling.

” Other reviews didn’t hold back, including one from Apollo saying that “If Arrowhead were a car repair company, and you came into their shop with three flat tires, they’d puncture your last good tire so that they were all the same,” when referring to the developers regularly nerfing popular weapons, which included the Breaker Incendiary Shotgun because too many people were using it according to the CEO. Sobas also poked fun at the nerfs by leaving a review that reads “The game was fun, and Arrowhead felt the need to fix that.” Some players were more blunt with their approach, such as Era who left a review saying “Imagine being backed by Sony, getting a ton of money dropped on you, have the CEO replaced, and still not be able to get a stable release going,” concluding it with “Incompetency is the key word here.

” Arrowhead Game Studios currently has a 60-day roadmap that is intended to fix many issues caused by the Escalation of Freedom update, as well as improve Helldivers 2 by rebalancing many of the weapons. Only time will tell as to whether the developers are successful, but it seems that they have no choice as players are beginning to be turned off from the game and are becoming less likely to return..
