THE heartbroken father of a 31-year-old American nurse who was killed in Hungary has told how he is "overcome with emotion" following the death of his daughter. A 37-year-old Irishman was arrested in connection with her killing within 24 hours of Mackenzie Michalski's disappearance in the country's capital. The Portland, Oregon native had been reported missing on November 5 while on a holiday with friends.
It is understood the last known sighting of Ms Michalski was at a nightclub in Budapest with the Irishman, who was spotted on CCTV with the American, later arrested on November 7. The alleged killer claims to have accidentally killed her with police stating “they had gotten intimate, and he killed her in the process”. Police said in a statement: "The perpetrator then tried to cover up the murder; so he cleaned his apartment and hid the girl’s body in the wardrobe cabinet while he went out to buy a suitcase.
” The Irishman is then said to have rented a car and driven 145km southwest of Budapest to Lake Balaton, where her body was buried in woods. Cops said the man confessed to killing nurse practitioner Mackenzie, who was living in Portland, Oregon , but claimed it was an accident. Officers added: “After his interrogation, the suspect also showed the detectives where he had hidden the body.
