A Group known as Life Transformation for African Representative Initiative, has urged Ebonyi State Government to create Private Sector Engagement Units in primary health centers for improved medicare. The Programme Manager of the Group, Ezeani Chiemezie, made the appeal during a stakeholders/media meeting held at the weekend in Abakaliki the capital city. Ezeani noted that the parley was organized to seek collaboration and support towards successful implementation of the project in the State.

He advocated the establishment of Integrated Supportive Supervision Technical Working Group (ISS-TWG), to boost quality healthcare of the people. “Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS), is a USAID/Palladium intervention sponsored programme, implemented in four states in Nigeria namely Bauchi, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Ebonyi respectively” “It is aimed at promoting effective and efficient service delivery, skill/knowledge transfer to healthcare service providers” Ezeani emphasized that the creation of private sector engagement units at primary health centers, would get enhance the sector involvement in resource creation. “Government can effectively harness the private sector, ensure that the sector contributes immensely in resources creation to boost healthcare services” “We advocate the creation of budget line and releases for ISS in the health budget, establishment of Technical Working Group” “Stakeholders must ensure proper implementation of Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS), for an improved healthcare service delivery across the state.



In a remark, the State Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Samson Nwafor, extolled USAID and the anchoring team for it’s partnership with the people of the State. He assured that media practitioners would collaborate with the Group to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative..
