Pune: Arrangements are being made for the medical safety of voters at their respective polling stations across the metropolitan area today. Medical officer Dr Laxman Gophane of the PCMC health department on Tuesday told TOI that as per the district collector's orders, they have deployed one Asha worker and one auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) at each booth to administer first aid in case of a medical emergency. "The team will be deployed at each booth to ensure that no voter faces medical issues.

In addition, the employees' welfare unit — introduced this election — will ensure that govt staffers get cashless coverage in case of health emergencies," Gophane said. Similarly, Dr Neena Borade, chief public health officer at PMC, said, "We have placed wheelchairs at each booth to ensure that persons with disabilities (PwDs) can cast their vote. To increase voter awareness, we have also put up posters at all our hospitals and stamps on OPD prescription papers encouraging people to cast their vote on Nov 20.

Our staff has also taken an oath to vote. Adhering to the collector's orders, we have deployed a medical team at each booth and our ambulances will also be moving around to attend to emergencies.".
