Wednesday, August 21, 2024 HTA proudly announces organizations selected for its Community Stewardship and Regenerative Experiences programs, key to advancing regenerative tourism in Hawaiʻi. The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) is excited to unveil the selected organizations for its Community Stewardship and Regenerative Experiences programs, integral components of the Community Tourism Collaboratives (CTC). In collaboration with Kilohana by CNHA, HTA conducted a 2024 technical needs assessment, identifying crucial capacity-building efforts necessary to promote a regenerative tourism model in Hawaiʻi.

After a highly competitive application and thorough evaluation process, 24 organizations have been selected to join these impactful programs, dedicated to advancing regenerative tourism and safeguarding Hawaiʻi’s rich cultural and natural heritage. “The selection of these remarkable organizations marks a significant step forward in our efforts to create a more regenerative and culturally respectful tourism model in Hawaiʻi,” said Mufi Hannemann, HTA Board Chair. “These cohort programs will empower our community partners to expand their invaluable work, ensuring that our islands’ cultural and natural resources are preserved and enriched for future generations.

” “We are thrilled to support these organizations as they lead Hawaiʻi’s transition to a regenerative model of tourism,” said Daniel Nāhoʻopiʻi, HTA’s Interim President & CEO. “The diverse range of organizations and projects that will receive capacity-building training and technical assistance through these programs highlight the innovative approaches being taken across the islands to mālama ʻāina and create meaningful visitor experiences.” The chosen organizations are set to begin their participation in the program cohorts right away, with a target to complete all funded projects by December 1, 2024.

The Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) will maintain ongoing oversight and provide support to ensure these initiatives stay on course with the objectives of the Community Tourism Collaboratives, focused on promoting regenerative tourism across the islands..
