As winter draws closer, Harrods ’ famous holiday displays, decor, and shelves of never-ending gifts make a grand return. This year, however, the British department store subverts from tradition as luxury label Loro Piana decks out the space for its 100th-anniversary celebrations. Heralded as “Workshop of Wonders,” the full-scale takeover spans the outside of the building as well as areas inside including special pop-ups and new boutiques.

In the spirit of its centenary, decorations and sparkling displays are designed to illuminate its heritage in craftsmanship by tracing the life of its garments and accessories in festively attuned style. On show until January 2, Hypebeast joined holiday shoppers to check out the takeover at Harrods. Underneath, a row of 36 windows shares a glimpse into different elements of its material production – focusing on Vicuña sourced from South America, Merino wool from Australia and New Zealand, Cashmere from Mongolia, and Pecora Nera® from New Zealand – with garments and special ornaments made up of the respective fiber.
