HANNIBAL -- The Hannibal Lady Pirates were looking to bounce back on Thursday after suffering it's first loss of the season two days ago. That's exactly what Hannibal did, coming away with a 3-0 sweep over North Central Missouri Conference foe Kirksville at Korf Gymnasium. "I think that we didn't anticipate that we needed to play how we did, and we finally picked it up and got rolling," said Hannibal head coach Kelsey Pollard.

"Sometimes I think that happens when you play a big game and then you have to play soon after and try to pick it up. It's hard." On Tuesday, Hannibal fell to Quincy Notre Dame in five sets in a epic game.

"I think we all really thought we could have won that game and that obviously upset us," said Hannibal junior Malia Stolte. "But it's something we have to get past and maybe it gave us a little boost that we have stuff to work on. I think we executed that in today's game.

" Hannibal stayed undefeated with conference play and improved to 3-0 with the NCMC. "It's a great conference win," said Pollard. "That feels good.

I hope we can continue that with the big (Troy) tournament on Saturday. I was trying to talk to them about getting them communicating regularly about things, so we can get focused and be ready for that." The Lady Pirates won the first set 25-20, but it was not the kind of start they were looking for.

"I think we kind of started off slow," said Hannibal senior Emilia Bates. "Our energy wasn't really there, but then we were like ok, this does.
