A new weapon is coming to Xbox’s free-to-play multiplayer shooter Halo Infinite. Almost three years after the game’s official launch, the game’s second new weapon has been leaked in a recent datamine. New Halo Infinite weapon More than a year after the release of the Bandit DMR, 343 Industries is adding another human weapon to Halo Infinite.

Instead of playing into the Banished /Covenant toybox or introducing a new vehicle—such as the datamined Falcon—the Halo studio is bringing a new human SMG to the game. Halo dataminers discovered references to a new MA5K SMG in newly updated files for the live service game. While not present in Halo Infinite at the time of writing, the MA5K has featured prominently in the series’ novels over the years.

In the 2007 Halo book Ghosts of Onyx, the MA5K submachine gun appears, and it also plays a prominent role in The Rubicon Protocol, one of the two prequel novels for Infinite. However, this weapon has never appeared in a Halo game before. While art for the weapon has existed, Bungie and 343 never cared to bring the weapon to any of the games, not even Halo Wars.

In Halo Infinte’s files, there are now multiple references to the MA5K Avenger. Since the game added the weapon under the SMG class, it can’t be a weapon kit for the existing iconic MA5B assault rifle. However, this doesn’t guarantee the weapon’s release.

Scrapped Infinite weapons After years of datamining, fans have discovered tonnes of cut weapons and vehicles in the latest Halo game. Alongside the aforementioned Falcon, 343 also cut a Brute shotgun, the return of the Spiker and many more weapons over the course of development. However, over the past two years, many of these previously leaked weapons and vehicles have been removed from Infinite’s files.

Seeing as the new MA5K Avenger is one of the first new additions to the game since the release of the Bandit DMR, the new weapon may actually come to Halo Infinite in the near future. With Infinite’s anniversary quickly approaching, it would be a great time to add a host of new content to the game to breathe life back into the multiplayer title. With Halo 7 still years away, Infinite’s life is far from over.
