With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect time for a scary movie marathon. Whether you’re in the mood for a psychological thriller, a zombie apocalypse film or a good old-fashioned slasher movie, you might be interested in films featuring scenes from Toronto, Hamilton and southwestern Ontario. Here are 15 films with some local appeal to check out this Halloween.
While set in New York, “American Psycho” has a distinctly Canadian flavour, at least in the backdrop. The film stars Christian Bale, who plays an investment banker named Patrick Bateman leading a double life as a serial killer. The scene in which Bateman berates a dry cleaner for failing deal with “cranberry juice” stains on his sheets shows the frontage of Valet Cleaners at 38 Church St.
Other filming locations include Dominion Bank Centre at 66 Wellington St. W., that stands in as the offices of Pierce and Pierce.
There’s a restaurant scene at 100 Simcoe St., and a glimpse of 145 John St. at Richmond Street West.
A scene featuring a police shootout was staged on Pearl Street. Biff’s Bistro, at 4 Front St. E.

When a man driving to a job interview in another city collides with a vehicle carrying five friends, they fall prey to a family of cannibal mountain men in this blood-curdling thriller. The film features scenes shot around Hamilton’s Dundas and Webster’s Falls area.
