Set in acres of stunning woodland, families will have the chance to explore the woods, bring a picnic, relax and enjoy the tranquil setting. Free activities such as art, music, fire lighting, campfire and s’mores will also be provided.

Alice Williams, Engagement & Progression Coordinator for Flintshire Council . She said: “There is so much support available in Flintshire that people are unaware of, so we do hope this event is one of many where young people and families can attend and engage in things to suit. (Image: Flintshire County Council) "It is such a beautiful place we want our community to be aware of it and enjoy.

We want to ensure people feel able to attend and feel at ease, relaxed, no pressure as we know anxiety is impacting a lot of our young people and we really want to help. "We can try and help with transport if needed. Do email inclusion@flintshire.

gov.uk to see if we can support”. Vanessa Warrington of Halkyn Castle Woods said: "We’re really excited to welcome families to Halkyn Castle Wood on Wednesday for the Family wellbeing in nature day.

"We’ve been running Flintshire Forest Families with Campfire Cymru for nearly three years, supporting families with disabilities, neurodiversities and anxiety through parent, home school, after school, holiday sessions and summer camps this year. "The event on Wednesday is a free drop in event and it will showcase lots of the incredible organisations and teams that offer support, advice and activities for families in Flintshire. "We have designed the event to be spaced out within the woods to avoid overwhelm and anxiety.

There are safe spaces, quiet spaces, free drinks and snacks, wellbeing area and plenty of activities to try and a lovely self guided walk too. Activities include; music, bushcraft, Dungeons & Dragons, yoga, craft, toasting marshmallows, messy play, storytelling, tug of war, hammocks, stalls and mindful walks.

“It’s been a pleasure to work with Vanessa, who has kindly provided a wonderful venue for us. Being able to offer engagement with all the services outside the usual 9 – 5 has opened the event up to people who would otherwise been in work and helped us reach a wider audience. "We are still working closely with the Flintshire Markets team, who have kindly assisted with this event and we're looking at ways to bring this to Mold too.
