Pune: A 50-year-old woman from Hadapsar died after she fell from an autorickshaw near Thermax Chowk in Nigdi on Aug16. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died during the treatment. The woman’s husband on Tuesday approached the Nigdi police and lodged a complaint against the autorickshaw driver.

The police have registered a case against the driver under sections 106 (2) [causing death by negligent driving] and 281 (rash driving on public way) of the BNS and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Assistant inspector Tanaji Kadam of the Nigdi police said the accident occurred around 7am on August 16, when the victim, along with two other women, was going from Khandobamal Chowk to Thermax Chowk in an auto. “When they reached near Thermax Chowk, the victim fell from the vehicle and fainted.



She was taken to the hospital, where she died,” he said. He said based on the complaint of the woman’s husband, the police registered the case against the auto driver. “We are, however, investigating the case from all angles.

We are investigating if the woman had some medical issue and fainted before falling out of the vehicle. We are waiting for the detailed post-mortem report,” he said. “According to the complainant, the auto bumped into one of the potholes and his wife fell off the three-wheeler because of it.
