A Bolton gym has announced it will be closing early after “advice from the police.” The Nuffield Health Bolton Fitness and Wellbeing Gym based on Eagley Brook Way in Astley Bridge made the announcement earlier today, Wednesday August 7. This comes after disturbances in the town centre the previous Sunday and speculation about further planned demonstrations in the town.

A spokesperson for Nuffield Health said: “At Nuffield Health, the safety of our members and employees is our top priority. “Based on advice from the police, we will be closing our Bolton Fitness & Wellbeing Centre at 7pm this evening.” The Eagley Brook Way gym usually maintains opening hours between 6.

30am and 10pm on weekdays and between 8am and 8pm at the weekend. But on Wednesday it has been shortened to 7pm. A number of other places reduced their opening hours today, including Morrisons in the town centre, Sainsbury's Wickes and TK Maxx on Trinity Street.
