A 19th-century wooden signboard that once graced Gyeongbok Palace is unveiled at the National Palace Museum of Korea in central Seoul, Thursday, marking its return home after a century abroad. Believed to have been taken from Korea in the 1930s during the Japanese colonial period, the relic originally hung in the palace's Seonwonjeon Hall, a sacred space where portraits of past kings were enshrined and memorial rites were performed. Its repatriation in February 2024 was made possible through the efforts of the Korea Heritage Service and the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation, with the financial backing of Riot Games.
