Saturday, January 25, 2025 Guwahati is set to celebrate Republic Day with a spectacular vintage car event, showcasing timeless automobiles and honoring Assam’s rich automotive heritage. On January 26, Guwahati is set to host an extraordinary celebration of classic automobiles as the Heritage Automobile Association of Assam organizes a vintage car exhibition in honor of Republic Day. Held at the Geeta Mandir High School field, the event will feature an impressive collection of vintage and classic cars, showcasing some of the most remarkable automotive designs of the past.
The exhibition’s core mission is to honor the enduring legacy of vintage automobiles while emphasizing their historical importance and contribution to automotive culture. Moreover, the event aims to promote the preservation of Assam’s automotive history, providing attendees with a nostalgic journey into the intricate craftsmanship and design of yesteryear’s vehicles. This event is part of a long-standing tradition, with the association having hosted similar vintage car exhibitions in prior years.
Last year, to mark the 78th Independence Day, around 20 classic and vintage cars were on display, allowing car enthusiasts and visitors to admire the history and elegance of these iconic vehicles. On Republic Day 2023, the association displayed 30 unique cars, including iconic models such as the 1942 Jeep, 1979 Mercedes, 1952 Morris Minor, and 1962 Ambassador. The event also featured a rally at Srimanta Sanka.
