Recently, Anurag Kashyap stated how less money is used to make a project, as compared to money spent on the actor’s entourage, and added that the boom in OTT budgets has aided this culture. Regarding the ongoing debate about actors’ remuneration and entourage costs, Gulshan Devaiah now sides with Anurag Kashyap. In a chat with News18 Showsha, Gulshan acknowledges that some actors demand exorbitant fees, but he also emphasizes that the blame should be shared.

Gulshan draws a parallel with government officials accepting bribes: it happens because someone is willing to offer it. While not all actors quote high prices, a select few should also be reasonable. The issue arises when actors imitate each other, leaving producers in a difficult position.

During a conversation with Humans of Cinema’s YouTube channel, Anurag mentioned how actors realised their worth after the OTT boom. He said, “For example, I had never seen so many vanity vans on my set like I saw on Sacred Games.” He added, “That’s how the culture got started.

Then you can’t reverse that. Finally, those people started getting paid who were totally ignored, which is the technical crew..

. It’s fair, in a way. But a lot of extra things started coming in.

” Earlier, with an interview with The Free Press Journal, Devaiah expressed his desire for social changes in the industry, particularly the elimination of the "hierarchy system" that places certain job profiles above others. He emphasized that this imaginary hierarchy should disappear. Devaiah also discussed the pressures and challenges that come with being in the public eye.

He shared that he has trained himself not to suffer unnecessarily in his imagination and to take responsibility for his words and actions while not letting the pressure affect his enjoyment of the profession..
