Thursday, August 15, 2024 Gulfstream G400 Achieves Milestone with Successful First Flight Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. proudly announced that the all-new Gulfstream G400 has successfully completed its first flight, officially kicking off the aircraft’s flight test program. This milestone marks a significant advancement in Gulfstream’s ultramodern, high-technology family of next-generation aircraft, setting a new standard for performance and comfort in its class.

The G400 embarked on its maiden flight from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:04 a.m., returning after 2 hours and 54 minutes.

During this initial flight, the aircraft reached an impressive speed of Mach 0.85 and soared to an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters). The mission was notably accomplished using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel sourced from Gulfstream’s Savannah campus, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

The Gulfstream G400 is a testament to cutting-edge aviation technology, featuring a combination of Gulfstream’s advanced aerodynamic clean-wing design, Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines, and next-generation avionics. This aircraft is designed to fly 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 kilometers) at Mach 0.85, ensuring efficient and high-speed travel.

The G400 is also equipped with Gulfstream’s award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck and Predictive Landing Performance System, which enhance flight safety and pilot situational awareness. Additionally, the advanced high-speed wing and winglet design, first introduced on the Gulfstream G500 and G600, significantly boost the aircraft’s overall efficiency. The G400 offers a range of customizable interiors, with three floorplan options that can accommodate up to nine, 11, or 12 passengers.

Passengers can expect the hallmark Gulfstream Cabin Experience, which includes 100% fresh, never recirculated air purified by a plasma ionization clean air system, the lowest cabin altitude in its class, and abundant natural light from 10 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows. Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream, commented on the achievement, saying, “The completion of the first flight marks a significant milestone for the G400. It demonstrates, yet again, the maturity of Gulfstream’s new aircraft programs and the advantages created by the intentionally designed commonalities shared across our next-generation fleet.

” Prospective buyers can experience the luxurious G400 interior at Gulfstream’s Savannah-based showroom, which features a full-size G400 mock-up alongside immersive multimedia content and interior design displays. Additionally, Gulfstream’s Beverly Hills sales and design center offers an invitation-only opportunity to explore a G400 cabin mock-up, providing customers with an intimate understanding of the safety and wellness-enhancing features of the G400 and insight into the Gulfstream design process.
