After starting her career with modelling, actress Namrata Shirodkar entered films. She won the title of Miss India in 1993. Later on, she represented India in the Miss Universe competition and she finished in the sixth position.

Namrata Shirodkar’s first Bollywood appearance was as a child artist in Shatrughan Sinha’s film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba in 1977. She was going to debut as a lead actress with Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty in the film Purab Ki Laila Aur Paschim Ka Chaila, but this film was never released. She debuted in 1998 with the film Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai.

In the same year, Namrata Shirodkar was seen in the film Mere Do Anmol Ratna. While the actress’ first film was able to earn an average amount at the box office, the second film was a disaster. The actress worked in many films like Hero Hindustani, Kacche Dhaage, Aaghaaz, Astitva, Albela and Tera Mera Saath Rahe, but all these films flopped in terms of earnings.

But it was her role in the critically acclaimed film Vaastav in 1999 that catapulted her into the limelight. Starring alongside Sanjay Dutt, her performance was widely appreciated, and the film itself became a significant hit. Namrata Shirodkar had a series of flop and disaster movies in her career of about 6 years.

She had a total of 16 flop films. She also tried her luck in the South cinema industry, but she did not get much success there either. While working in the South film industry, the actress met actor Mahesh Babu.

The two first met in the early 2000s while shooting for the Telugu film Vamsi in 2000, where Namrata played the lead opposite Mahesh Babu. Their on-screen chemistry quickly translated into a real-life romance. After dating for 5 years, the couple got married in 2005.

After marriage, she shifted her focus towards her family, opting for a more private life while occasionally making appearances at public events and film functions alongside her husband. They have two children, a son named Gautam and a daughter named Sitara, and both Namrata and Mahesh frequently express their love and pride for their family..
