Police in Victoria are on a mission to save Christmas after a “Grinch” stole a van filled with packages. In true Grinch fashion, police allege the man snuck into a delivery van “full of parcels for good boys and girls”, next to a commercial property in the south-Melbourne suburb of Sandringham. He allegedly then took off with the stolen loot at about 10.
00am on Tuesday, December 17, before dumping the vehicle at Hampton Train Station where it was recovered a short time later. Detectives from the Moorabin Crime Investigation Unit are still trying to determine if any of the presents were stolen, and have released footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries. The man is believed to have been wearing a blue grey hat, blue jacket, and long pants when he attempted to steal Christmas last week.
Noting that “This Grinch isn’t green,” a police spokesperson said the culprit is caucasian in appearance, in his 30s and approximately 170cm tall.” “Victoria Police will also be dropping a note to Santa to advise of the grinch’s bad behaviour and put him on the naughty list.” Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.
