GRENADA — Spice Island Beach Resort is reporting strong bookings for winter, despite last month’s impact of Hurricane Beryl. Bolstered by increased airlift to Grenada and following extensive renovation to its public spaces in 2023, the AAA Five Diamond award-winning resort is enjoying strong occupancy for summer, already closing several room categories for the holiday season over Christmas and New Year’s. According to Janelle Hopkin, President and Managing Director, bookings are so strong that the resort has decided to defer its scheduled September closure and will remain open throughout all of 2024.
“We continue to see strong bookings from our major market in the UK, however we have also seen an upsurge in U.S. bookings, particularly from the Northeast corridor,” said Hopkin.
Grenada enjoys nonstop airlift from Toronto, Miami, Boston, Charlotte and New York. The island is also seeing increased international attention as a result of new developments and marketing initiatives spearheaded by the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA). “Spice Island Beach Resort, like all Grenada properties, is working collaboratively with the GTA to ensure that the island’s hotel product benefits from our collective efforts,” added Hopkin.
“The island is trending from a tourism perspective and we just need to keep it going.” Hopkin attributed the progress to a shift towards experiential travel, noting that “Grenada is one of the islands that still feels very much like a Caribbean.
