This celebration of OFWs is a testament to their invaluable contributions to our society. Marking a monumental 50 years of visual artistry, the UNESCO Gantimpalang Lampara ng Sining at Kultura from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts awardee Master Nemi Miranda Jr., widely known as Nemiranda, has unveiled his exhibit and book at the prestigious VAM International Art Gallery, nestled on the second floor of Century Mall in Makati.

This event is a significant milestone in the world of Filipino art and culture. 'It was a privilege to be invited by the father of Imaginative Figurism. In a brief interview with the living legend, he shared, “For my exhibit, I chose to honor the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), our unsung heroes.



Did you know they remit US$37 billion to the Philippines for their families? It's high time we celebrate, honor, and immortalize their sacrifices. And what better way to do that than through my art? I hope many OFWs can appreciate the dedication I put into this. This is why I chose a gallery inside Century Mall, so they can enter and appreciate my work of art dedicated to them.

” This celebration of OFWs is a testament to their invaluable contributions to our society. Over the years, Nemiranda has held more than 100 exhibitions worldwide, featuring prominent pieces like the "History of the Philippines Army" mural, the EDSA Shrine Mural, and the "Marawi in the Eyes of an Artist" series. In addition to his artistic endeavors.

Nemiranda has been instrumental in shaping the Angono art community, founding organizations, promoting cultural events, and receiving numerous awards for his significant contributions to Philippine art and culture. In his new book, Nemiranda, The Art of Imaginative Figurism, authored by Geraldine Vitor Hernandez-Martens, Ph.d.

, Nemiranda has generously included the works of many artists he has mentored and promoted. This act of inclusivity and support is a testament to his commitment to the growth and development of the Angono art community. Nemiranda tells Gossip Girl, “This book contains not only my works but the works of many Angono artists I am helping.

Instead of visiting my gallery in Angono, you can choose the paintings in my book. Also, I appreciate the history and context of the paintings, which are explained brilliantly by the author, Dr. Martens.

His dedication to the growth of the Angono art community turned the town into the Art Capital of the Philippines." Nemiranda's artistic achievements are paralleled by his extensive involvement in service and civic organizations. He was a key figure in the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Rotary Club, and various art committees.

He is renowned for his commitment to developing Filipino art, exemplified by his founding of art museums, art camps, and an exchange program. His legacy spans art, leadership, teaching, and cultural work. Nemiranda is celebrated as a living legend in Angono.
