Patna: To reform people with criminal backgrounds , the Patna police conducted a ‘ Goonda Parade ’ across all 89 police stations in the district, including those handling SC/ST and women’s cases, on Sunday. During the programme, police personnel counselled and monitored the current activities of these people. Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra said every Sunday, those with criminal records are required to report to their respective police stations for counselling .
“During these sessions, officers inquire about their whereabouts and current means of livelihood. Senior police officers regularly advise them and encourage them to lead a normal life by engaging in respectable work,” he said. The SSP added that each police station maintains a diary known as the ‘Goonda Register’, where records of these people are kept.
