COLUMBUS, Ohio — Saturday’s game against Iowa showcased two sides of Will Howard. In a two-play sequence in the third quarter, Howard and Quinshon Judkins fumbled a read-option play on the exchange. Howard had to jump on the ball and recover it for a 4-yard loss in the red zone.
The game was already out of reach, but it was a play that nearly cost the Buckeyes. And on the very next play, Howard threw a strike to the corner of the end zone to wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. It was a perfectly placed pass where only his receiver could get it, and it officially put the exclamation point on a 35-7 victory over the Hawkeyes.
Saturday showcased the good and the bad of Howard as Ohio State’s quarterback. And while there was plenty more good than bad against Iowa, the Buckeyes need him to be Good Will Howard for nearly the entirety of next week against Oregon.
