Tuesday, August 13, 2024 Maldives Immigration has announced that, starting from August 15, 2024, outbound travelers will no longer be required to complete the Imuga Traveller Declaration form when departing from the Maldives. This decision, directed by the Controller General of Immigration, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the travel experience for passengers. The removal of this procedural requirement is expected to simplify the departure process at Maldivian airports, allowing for a more seamless flow of travelers.

Previously, the Imuga Traveller Declaration was mandatory for all tourists leaving the country, although it had already been lifted for both outbound and inbound Maldivian citizens. For the hospitality industry, this change is anticipated to improve the overall guest experience for international travelers departing the Maldives. By reducing the time and effort required at the airport, the adjustment could positively impact guest satisfaction and operational efficiency at resorts and hotels.

Hotels and resorts across the Maldives are encouraged to inform their guests and staff about this new process to ensure a smooth transition and to continue providing excellent service during departures..
