Wednesday, August 14, 2024 Maldives Streamlines Departure Process for Travelers Maldives Immigration has introduced a significant change to the departure process for outbound travelers, effective August 15, 2024. Under the directive of the Controller General of Immigration, travelers leaving the Maldives will no longer be required to complete the Imuga ‘Traveller Declaration’ form. This policy shift is expected to simplify and expedite the departure process, making it more convenient for all passengers, particularly frequent travelers and business professionals.

As detailed in circular 94-CBS/CIR/2024/4, the removal of this requirement aims to enhance the overall travel experience by reducing the steps involved in preparing for departure. By eliminating the need for the form, the Maldives seeks to provide a smoother and more efficient transition through airport procedures, reflecting the nation’s commitment to maintaining its reputation as a leading travel destination known for its hospitality and operational efficiency. Despite this change for outbound travelers, the requirement for inbound travelers remains unchanged.

All visitors arriving in the Maldives are still required to complete the ‘Traveller Declaration’ form within 96 hours before their arrival. Furthermore, all necessary security and immigration checks will continue to be enforced to ensure the safety and security of both residents and visitors. This update is part of the Maldives’ broader strategy to continually improve its travel infrastructure and services, making it easier for tourists and business travelers to enjoy a seamless experience.

By streamlining processes and reducing administrative burdens, the Maldives is reinforcing its status as a top destination for global travelers.
