Good Morning Britain announced 'breaking news' from the Office for National Statistics on Monday's instalment of the show. During the latest episode, hosts Kate Garraway and Ed Balls spoke to Political Correspondent, Louisa James, who announced that GDP has been downgraded to zero. The UK economy recorded no growth in the third quarter, revised down from an initial estimate of 0.

1%, the Office for National Statistics said. Louisa said: "These figures that have come out just in the last couple of minutes which show that in the months from July to September, the economy actually flatlined, growth was zero, it had been predicted to be 0.1%, so a small difference but a significant one!" The Office for National Statistics said that UK gross domestic product (GDP) showed no growth between July and September, in the run up to the Autumn budget.

Statisticians had previously estimated 0.1% growth for the quarter. Following the breaking news, Ed explained what the statistics meant back in the ITV studio.

It comes as Kate, 57, and Susanna Reid were reunited with former Good Morning Britain colleague Piers Morgan earlier this week as the trio got back together for a Christmas do. Kate was with her two children, Darcey, 18, and son Billy, 15, as they attended Piers' annual star-studded festive bash. Fellow Good Morning Britain stars Charlotte Hawkins, Richard Madeley and Laura Tobin also made appearances at the party, which took over the Scarsdale Tavern in Kensington, London.
