The Newtownabbey born radio presenter admitted most of the viewers of the show will have “never seen my face”, adding that far from the creepy-crawlies and eating challenges, he is most nervous about “gelling with everybody”. The former Gaydio host and now Radio 1 early breakfast show host will also be joined in the jungle by former boxer Barry McGuigan.

McGuigan, who was born in Clones, Monaghan, is best known for winning the world featherweight title against Eusebio Pedroza in 1985, and represented Northern Ireland in the Commonwealth Games at Edmonton in 1978 and Ireland in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He won BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year in 1985.
