Wednesday, August 14, 2024 The Goa Department of Tourism has reached a significant milestone by signing a supplemental lease deed with Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) for the development of the Taj Aguada Plateau. This agreement aims to transform the plateau into a premier global destination, focusing on wellness, Ayurveda, yoga, and immersive cultural experiences, all designed to attract high-end tourists. The signing ceremony, held on August 13 at Mantralaya, Porvorim, marked a pivotal step in enhancing Goa’s tourism infrastructure.

The event was attended by notable figures including Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte, and other key officials from both the Goa government and IHCL.



Under this agreement, IHCL is committed to developing a world-class facility that integrates wellness, Ayurveda, and cultural experiences while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the region. The project is expected to boost tourism in Goa by offering unique experiences that appeal to a global audience, further solidifying Goa’s reputation as a top-tier destination. Chief Minister Dr.

This partnership with the IHCL Taj Group will have a positive impact on both our economy and local communities.” Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism and Managing Director of GTDC, underscored the economic and cultural benefits of the project. “The Taj Aguada Plateau development is a significant step toward realizing our vision of Goa as a premier global tourism destination.

This partnership will not only enhance our infrastructure but also create lasting economic benefits for our local communities by promoting wellness tourism, Ayurveda, and regenerative tourism.” The development on the Aguada Plateau is set to include state-of-the-art facilities and services that will ensure Goa remains a preferred destination for travelers worldwide. The proximity of Mopa Airport to the plateau is expected to further boost tourist arrivals, making it more convenient for international visitors to access these new attractions.
