Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh once again took to her social media to celebrate Malaysia's victory at the Olympics. The Oscar winner, who turned 62 yesterday (Aug 6), congratulated men's singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia who clinched a bronze medal on Aug 5. “Congratulations Lee Zii Jia for winning the Bronze medal for Men’s Single Badminton!! Go Team Malaysia!” the Hollywood star wrote.
Zii Jia secured the country's second bronze medal at the Paris Olympics after beating Indian player Lakshya Sen 13-21, 21-16, 21-11. Earlier this week, Yeoh also congratulated Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik after the duo clinched the bronze medal in the men's doubles. "Congratulations.
So proud and happy that our Malaysian boys won the Bronze medal," she wrote. Yeoh and her husband Jean Todt were in Paris to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics on July 26. The Crazy Rich Asian actress is an elected member of the International Olympics Committee.
Malaysian actress Debbie Goh also took to Instagram to thank Zii Jia for "securing another bronze medal for Malaysia". The former Miss Malaysia Chinese International posted a Vlog documenting her experience watching Zii Jia and Sen's match at the Adidas Arena in Port de la Chapelle. "This must be the most beautiful badminton venue I've ever seen.
The players gave it their all," Goh, 45, wrote on Instagram. Earlier today, hundreds of fans gathered at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to welcome home the national badminton team. Bronze medallists Zii Jia, Aaron and Wooi Yik were greeted like heroes by the cheering crowd upon their arrival.
