December 19, 1926 - August 1, 2024 OMAHA — Gloria Dinsdale, 97, of Omaha and Palmer, Nebraska, was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Dinsdale. She is survived by a daughter, Jane Dinsdale Rogers, and son, Sid (Dawn), both of Omaha, and by her son, Chris (Joy) of Denver. Gloria is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren in Nebraska and Colorado.

Gloria was born on December 19, 1926, in McCook, Nebraska, to Maude and Colonel Stephens. She spent her childhood in Grand Island, Nebraska, where her father managed The Yancey Hotel. After high school, Gloria attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee, and later the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.

At NU, she was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. In October of 1949, Gloria married Roy Dinsdale and settled down in Palmer. As a young banker, Roy was often traveling, visiting his banks and building his business.

Gloria supported those efforts by often taking on more than just her share of the parenting duties with her young rambunctious family. She still found time to be active in the Palmer United Methodist Church, as her Christian faith was very important to her. She also served in leadership roles with many of Palmer's civic organizations and village projects and actively supported the Republican party on the local, county and state levels.

While Roy and Gloria always remained part of Palmer, in 2011 wanting to be closer to family, they made Omaha their second home. Gloria had a lifelong appreciation of the arts and supported the work of a wide variety of organizations. She served as a member of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Committee for the Nebraska Endowment of the Arts.

She was a smart and beautiful woman with a forever-optimistic attitude that inspired her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her generous words of encouragement and as a most reliable "Happy Birthday!" wisher. She is beloved by her family and many friends and will be forever missed and revered.

Two celebrations of Gloria's life are planned. The first will be at 11 a.m.

Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Countryside Community Church, 13130 Faith Plaza, in Omaha, with a luncheon following at the Happy Hollow Club. The second will be at 11 a.m.

Friday, August 16, at the United Methodist Church, 1012 Commercial St., in Palmer. Lunch will be served at the Palmer Legion Club.

Memorials can be sent to The Roy and Gloria Dinsdale Foundation account through Omaha Community Foundation. Checks can be mailed (payable) to Omaha Community Foundation, 1120 S 101st St, Ste 320, Omaha, NE 68124, listing "The Roy and Gloria Dinsdale Foundation" in the memo.
