Wednesday, August 7, 2024 Global Travel Collection (GTC), a leading network of high-end travel consultants, is focusing on revitalizing Maui’s tourism following last year’s severe wildfires. They plan to achieve this through new installments of the reality show “1st Look Presents: Extra Mile Club,” showcasing elite GTC travel advisors. Devastating wildfires swept through Maui, decimating homes, enterprises, and significant heritage locations, resulting in 100 fatalities.

Lahaina, a historic enclave in West Maui, bore the brunt of the devastation. Beyond the immense human toll, the economic ramifications are dire, with many locals struggling to provide for their families. The Maui Economic Development Board notes that approximately 70% of the county’s income is derived from tourism.

Throughout the last year, Maui’s community has demonstrated exceptional fortitude and a commitment to rebuilding with hope and vigor. They remain keen to showcase their island’s vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes to tourists. Although certain regions hit by the wildfires are still recovering, the majority of the island and other Hawaiian destinations welcome visitors.

This resilience prompted Global Travel Collection to feature the area in their travel-centric reality series. In collaboration with NBCUniversal’s LXTV Productions, “1st Look: Extra Mile Club” is a reality competition that showcases elite travel advisors designing opulent travel experiences for celebrity guests. Returning participants from last year’s pilot, GTC travel advisors Leslie Tillem and Curtis Parris, will be featured in “1st Look,” a popular program covering entertainment, travel, and lifestyle.

The “Extra Mile Club” series airs across NBC stations throughout the nation. Tillem and Parris have recently completed shooting two fresh episodes on Maui, where they crafted unique experiences for Emma Hernan and Chelsea Lazkani from Netflix’s “Selling Sunset.” “Through our partnership with LXTV Productions, we are committed to aiding Maui’s recovery by highlighting its incredible natural beauty and the variety of activities travelers can enjoy,” said Angie Licea, President of Global Travel Collection .

“By visiting, you will support local businesses and workers who rely on tourism to sustain their families. Wherever you travel on the islands, be kind and embrace the aloha spirit that Hawaii is known for.” “Extra Mile Club” destination filming partners include Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Maverick Helicopters, Ohana Nui Charters, Maui Reef Adventures, Hawaiian Paddle Sports, Kiawe Outdoor, Ulupalakua Ranch, Hua Momona Farms, Chef Zach Laidlaw, Puka Swimwear, Maui Roadsters, Circle M.

Ranch, photographer Tad Craig, Manutea Nui Entertainment and Maui Ku’ia Estate Chocolate. “We are proud to partner with Global Travel Collection to showcase Maui and the travel advisors who curate amazing experiences on the island.” In response to the catastrophic wildfires in Maui, the foundation of Global Travel Collection contributed $10,000 to Maui United Way to support the communities impacted by the disaster..
