The highly touted Robinson III, who boasts the most impressive credential among this year’s batch of imports, having played in the NBA for seven seasons, said he is still adjusting in his first foray overseas but nonetheless is eager to provide the explosiveness and experience to Magnolia.
“That is our goal, that’s my goal. As a team, you want to go into the season with high expectations but I think it’s our job to take it game by game,” said the 30-year-old 2014 NBA draft second round pick. Robinson III said that the biggest adjustment he has to make is how to handle the weight of being an import in the PBA where he is now expected to deliver in all of the game – a huge contrast to his role in the NBA where he mostly played as a role player.
“I never been an import before I never played overseas so I am noticing things – that I am expected to bring the high level of my game, whatever I can bring, my energy,” said the 6-foot-5 high flyer. “Everything that I can bring to the team is needed. That's why they wanted me to be here with the experience so I'm just trying to bring the best out of me everyday and help lift everyone around me,” he added.
For one, the PBA also has a much shorter regular season as compared to the NBA where players have the luxury of having many games to get themselves in shape and in top form. “I’m used to the NBA where it was 82 games and 15 or 20 of it, you would take a break, you might take a day off but here 10 games in regular season, every game matters, every minute matters,” the former NBA slam dunk king. “I think it's my job to come prepared everyday so that's what I'm gonna do.
Our goal is to win the championship and bring it to Magnolia but we are gonna take this day by day,” he added..
