Ready to talk about something that has nothing to do with elections? Me too. How about something that includes hanging out with girlfriends, shopping, some amazing music, and if you are so inclined — wine? Now I’ve piqued your interest, right? We’re just over a couple of weeks out from Her Night Out, a TH event that’s getting a refresh this year and one I think will be a ton of fun. We’ve been doing this women’s event in some form or fashion for more than 20 years.
It usually includes vendor shopping, a meal and a speaker. This year’s event has a new twist — that speaker happens to be a singer and a bonafide pop star. It all started when Jodi Dodd, the marketing manager here at the TH, was flying home from Nashville, accompanied by her mother.
She spotted a young woman toting a guitar case, and realized she was looking at Maddie Poppe, the Iowa-born singer-songwriter who took ABC’s “American Idol” by storm a few years ago, winning season 16. Jodi struck up a conversation with Maddie, who was just about as “Iowa nice” as you can imagine, even helping Jodi navigate with her mother during an airport gate change. As they bonded, Jodi started thinking about Her Night Out, and wondering if she could ever snag Maddie for the event.
Long story short — it’s happening. Maddie Poppe will entertain for an hour or so at Her Night Out, on Nov. 21, playing her guitar, singing some songs and telling a few stories.
It should be the highlight of a really fun night.
