A view of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York / Courtesy of Hyundai Motor Group By Lee Min-hyung Genesis has forged a five-year partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, pledging to play a part in helping spread inspiration and vision by globally renowned artists, the luxury carmaker said Wednesday. Under the tie, Genesis will sponsor the Genesis Facade Commission by inviting an artist each year to create new works of art for Fifth Avenue, the primary building for the museum. The company said the partnership will also help inspire authentic connections between the artist, the museum's audiences and broader global art communities.

"As a long-time supporter of the arts, we are thrilled to embark on a new journey of Genesis Art Initiatives with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's most highly-respected arts institutions," Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun said. Genesis is a luxury arm of the group. "With our aspiration and ambition for this impactful partnership, we hope to become part of the museum's inspiring community and to amplify the voices of renowned cultural visionaries.



" The museum also thanked Genesis for supporting its art display platform. "We are grateful to Genesis for their incredible generosity and support, which ensures the opportunity for visitors and passerby alike to be surprised, delighted and inspired by dynamic commissions for years to come," Metropolitan Museum of Art CEO Max Hollein said. The inaugural exhibition from the partnership is the Genesis Façade Commission: Lee Bul, "Long Tail Halo," which will be on view from Sept.

12 to May 27, 2025. This marks the first time an artist living and working in Asia has been commissioned for the installation, according to Genesis..
