GENERAL Hospital has featured some wild storylines and shocking twists over its 61-year run. From Mikkos's supervillain plot to Jason's Quartermaine to Morgan's identity change, there's been no shortage of jaw-dropping moments in the soap opera's long history. Most recently General Hospital viewers were floored after Kristina Davis, played by Kate Mansi, suffered a devastating fall that left her and the life of her baby in the balance.

Last week, Kristina , who is heavily pregnant, was seen arguing with Ava Jerome (Maura West) on Thursday's episode. She threatened to testify against Ava in the custody trial then, distracted, stepped back and accidentally tripped over a black duffle bag. Kristina crashed through a window and fell two stories, landing face-first in the Metro Court's pool.

After Joss rescued Kristina out of the pool, she was rushed to the hospital where she underwent an emergency C-section.

Kristina began to hemorrhage as the placenta had separated from the baby due to the fall. She went into shock, leaving the baby in fetal distress, leading to the emergency C-section. FELICIA KILLS PETER In February 2022, series antagonist Peter August, played by Wes Ramsey, met his demise at the business end of a tire iron thanks to Felicia Jones.

Forced to flee the country with Peter, Maxie Jones played nice with him until he not-so-subtly threatened her. Maxie reminded Peter that he was responsible for Faison killing Nathan before she managed to escape. While fleeing Peter, Maxie flagged down her mother, Felicia, before the pair were run off the road by her pursuer.

Maxie led Peter on a chase before finally being concerned by him. Choosing to die rather than be with him, Maxie accepts her fate as an emotional Peter readied to kill her. However, she's saved by Felica - who hits Peter over the head with a tire iron.

The blow sent him tumbling down a slope where he lost consciousness. After waking up, and calling out to Maxie who refuses to give him any sympathy, Anna Devane arrives and stays with Peter until he dies from his injuries. Finola Hughes, who plays Anna, told Soap Opera Digest about Peter's death, “Peter was neglected and he wasn’t parented, ever, and who was really there for him?” "Who did right by this man, really," she added.

Then-headwriter Dan O’Connor told Digest that he and soon-to-be-returning headwriter Chris Van Etten “ran through countless different scenarios of how to come up with an ending [for Peter] that was not only producible, given the confines of our show, but also exciting and big.” But there’s only one way to end it "when you have a villain who has left a wake of bodies in their path as Peter has over the last four-and-a-half years." FRANCO'S OBSESSION When James Franco decided to guest star in a soap opera, he joined General Hospital as the artist-turned-serial killer Franco Baldwin.

His character was first seen as an eccentric, artistic type, but later it became clear he was evil. Franco developed an obsession with Jason Morgan and set out to terrorize him and his family. After The Disaster Artist actor's run as Franco, the character returned with a different actor playing him.

Franco had a brain tumor removed and was later considered a regular citizen of Port Charles before being killed by Peter. QUARTERMAINE TO MORGAN Jason Quartermaine, played by Steve Burton, is the son of Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) and his mistress, Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey).

He was adopted by Alan's wife Dr. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) and enjoyed life as the golden boy of the town’s richest family. He had plans to become a doctor like his parents, that was until his alcoholic brother AJ caused a car accident that gave Jason brain damage.

After waking up, Jason had no memory of his previous life and his personality shifts dramatically. Fed up with his family pushing him to be his former self, he moved out, changed his surname to Morgan, and started working for Sonny. THE DEATH OF BJ JONES The daughter of Tony Jones and his late wife Tania Jones died in a school bus accident.

The emotional storyline saw BJ Jones' school van hit by a drunk driver, leaving the 7-year-old brain dead. Her father decided to donate her organs, with her heart behind transplanted into her ailing cousin Maxie. One of the most heartbreaking General Hospital moments was captured when Tony laid his head on Maxie's chest and listened to his daughter's heartbeat within his niece.

General Hospital has been on air since the early 1960s. Mikkos plotted to take over the world, planning to blackmail the rest of the planet after he froze Port Charles.
