GENERAL Hospital star Ron Hale has died at the age of 78. The actor, who played Mike Corbin on the popular ABC drama series, died on August 27 in St. George, South Carolina, according to an online obit.

Hale, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, played the dad of the mob boss Sonny Corinthos between 1995 and 2010. Tributes have been paid to the Emmy-nominated actor as news of his death emerged. “The entire General Hospital Family is saddened to hear of Ron Hale’s passing,” said the show in an X post.



“We would like to extend our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. “He was an incredible actor and an unforgettable colleague. May he rest in peace.

” Fellow General Hospital actor Billy Warlock, who also appeared in the hit show Days of Our Lives, was among the screen stars that paid tribute to Hale. “It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve lost another great one,” he said on X . “Ron was an amazing talent and an even better friend.

I will miss you.” Most read in Celebrity Jon Lindstrom, a four-time Emmy-nominated actor, recalled his memories of Hale. He revealed his favorite memory was sitting with him on a Los Angeles-New York flight with the fitness guru Richard Simmons in front.

Hale also starred in the TV series Port Charles between 1997 and 2000, starring in 46 episodes. He also played Dr. Roger Coleridge in the hit TV series Ryan's Hope between 1975 and 1989.
