Rob Brydon has hinted that Gavin and Stacey 's explosive conclusion will be a tear-jerker as he revealed his heartfelt reaction to the hit sitcom's last script. The BBC comedy, which aired from 2007 to 2010, reappeared on our screens in 2019 for a festive episode but ultimately left fans with more questions than answers as it ended on a cliff-hanger. In May, 2024, James Corden confirmed that the beloved show would make one last return to the box just in time for Christmas Day, as he'd been working with co-creator Ruth Jones on its last ever episode.

Now Rob Brydon , 59, has lifted the lid on what viewers can expect from the Gavin and Stacey's finale as the script of its final instalment had left him in tatters. Speaking to Chris Evans live from Laverstoke Park Farm, the Uncle Bryn actor admitted that he and his co-stars had to lie as they wanted to keep the secret around the finale intact. "First of all, we knew it was going to happen, but we were told we had to keep it a secret.

So you have to lie to people", he said. But keeping the mystery alive was a challenge: "It's a horrible feeling, because you don't want to lie to somebody right in the face", the Welsh star continued. Rob also shared that the cast had to wait until after the official announcement to finally catch a glimpse of the final script.

"It was a couple of months before the cast saw the script. I only saw it, we were on holiday, we were away, about a month ago", he remembered, "I read it. Oh, it's so good.

" Before confessing: "Do you know what? I was moved to tears, because it's emotional." In July, James Corden opened up to Jordan North , Chris Stark and Kemi Rodgers on their Capital Breakfast show and teased that he was ready to wrap up a lot of loose ends. However, he also said that he still wasn't certain on how to do so, despite the fact his deadline was fast approaching.

The former Late, Late Show then explained that rewrites could still be made: "We have to remove some time, we have to change some bits around. So we've been doing that, it's quite tough because Ruth’s in Sister Act over in the West End at the minute, and I'm doing The Constituent at the Old Vic." "So we've been doing quite a bit of writing in dressing rooms and things like that.

And then both looking at each other being quite tired from the plays but we'll be back at it tomorrow. Back at it Friday. I hope by Friday.

..it will be done and finished this Friday.
