Electric Picnic is known for its chilled-out vibes Music festival Electric Picnic has announced a Gaeltacht Campsite will return this year in an effort to promote the Irish language and culture. The Stradbally festival made the announcement in partnership with the Irish language advocacy group Conradh na Gaeilge's Croí na Féile initiative. The campsite will be called An Láthair Ghaeltachta and will be a hot spot for Irish-speaking festival goers.

The campsite exclusively for gaeilgeoirs has been a staple at the festival since 2018. Attendees at the three-day festival, which takes place from August 16-18, will have the opportunity to get involved in an Irish-speaking environment, pitching their tents at the designated site. The Irish language experience at Electric Picnic will include the An Chollchoill stage in which festival goers can listen to a mix of traditional music every night from 7pm until midnight.

The stage will host a mix of traditional and contemporary acts, including Irish language artists such as Burnchurch and Huartán, DJ performances from Ailbhe Ní Riain and the renowned Bandia group known for their Irish language covers. Orlaith Nic Ghearailt of Conradh na Gaeilge said: "Electric Picnic is a cornerstone of Ireland’s summer social calendar, bringing together thousands of people to celebrate through music and culture. “Festivals give us the opportunity to express ourselves in a unique way — and what is language but an expression of identity.

This year’s programme will bring festival goers down through the woods to a stage full of beautiful music and exciting bands, with both seasoned artists and up-and-coming acts set to take the stage." Paula Melvin, President of Conradh na Gaeilge said: “Conradh na Gaeilge, with the support of Foras na Gaeilge, has put the Irish language at the heart of Electric Picnic since 2018 and we look forward to bringing Croí na Féile back to Ireland’s biggest music festival this year. "People will have the opportunity to use Irish at the festival by camping in the Gaeltacht campsite and by stopping by the Collchoill stage on all three nights.

We’ve gotten great feedback every year to date and it’s great to see Irish at #CroínaFéile in the festival community!” Attendees are encouraged to register for the Gaeltacht campsite through online ticketing website Eventbrite. With limited spaces available, early registration is recommended to ensure a spot at the Irish language promotion initiative.
